Kurt Haas Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship award was established by the family, friends and colleagues of Kurt Haas in honor of his many years of dedicated service and to keep his memory and the ideals he stood for alive and thriving at SUNY New Paltz.

Kurt Haas, Professor Emeritus of Psychology, was the first individual in his family to attend college. He was born in Germany and immigrated with his family when he was seven years old, escaping Nazi persecution. Dr. Haas was a highly respected professor with an international reputation. He authored seven books, including Abnormal Psychology which was translated into Spanish, and Understanding Sexuality which was translated into Chinese.

The recipient of this scholarship must be a full-time matriculated student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be a first generation college student. The student must demonstrate financial need and submit a letter of recommendation from a current faculty member.
