Gertrude M. Elliott Memorial Scholarship

Grace E. Elliott, a lifelong resident of New Paltz, passed away in 1997. She designated a portion of her estate to SUNY New Paltz for the establishment of a scholarship fund named in honor of her mother, Gertrude M. Elliott, a Clionian sister and a member of the Class of 1926.

The Gertrude M. Elliott Scholarship provides scholarships annually for one or more undergraduate students from either New Paltz or Yonkers, New York. Scholarships shall be awarded to a freshman going into their sophomore year or person in their second sophomore year of study at New Paltz, and continue to be awarded on an annual basis (up to 3 years depending on class level) toward an initial degree providing academic requirements are maintained. The applicant must also be a full-time matriculated student with a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

  2. Please provide a statement expressing what you hope to gain from your learning experience at SUNY New Paltz as it relates to your major or interests.
  3. Applicants can request a letter of recommendation by submitting the email address of the person you wish a recommendation from. You should notify these individuals to expect an email. You are responsible for ensuring the recommendations are submitted by the application deadline. Please use their newpaltz.edu email address if they are a faculty member.
  4. Transfer students who have been attending New Paltz between now and the start of this academic year should include a copy of their transcripts from their previous college.
