Robert Kyncl '95 & Luz Avila Kyncl '96 STEM Scholarships

Established by Robert and Luz Kyncl, eligible transfer students must have indicated an interest in Computer Science or one of the Engineering fields (with other STEM disciplines considered on a secondary basis). This scholarship is intended to assist students who are underrepresented in the field of Computer Science and Engineering with a preference for those that have financial need. Eligible students, will have a demonstrated record of strong math and science grades and achievements from high school. Recipients need to maintain a GPA of 2.75 and continue to make reasonable progress in Computer Science or an Engineering field to hold the scholarship in subsequent years.

Applications are being accepted from newly admitted students to SUNY New Paltz and undeclared majors who are seeking to declare a major in Computer Science and Engineering as of the Fall of the next academic year. Existing students, who are seeking to declare a major in Computer Science will need to select Admissions on their General Application and complete the Admissions conditional application in order to apply.

  2. Kyncl application conditions
    • As a condition of the Kyncl Scholarship, students must agree to the sharing of information with both the SUNY New Paltz Foundation and the donors, Robert and Luz Kyncl. The information to be shared (Name, Major, Minor, State, photograph, biography and thank you letter) may be publicly posted by both the institution, the SUNY New Paltz Foundation, and the Kyncls, in order to promote the scholarship program. When you apply for this scholarship, you acknowledge and consent to the sharing of this information under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99). Some of this information is classified as directory information, however, some other information may constitute education records under FERPA. This information will only be used for this limited purpose of advertising the current and past scholars in the scholarship program.
