The Ralph Sotomayor '91 Annual Scholarship
Established by Kena Colon Sotomayor in 2025, the Ralph Sotomayor ’91 Annual Scholarship will provide non-tuition educational expenses for at least one SUNY New Paltz student in the School of Science and Engineering. Students must be full-time undergraduates with a GPA of at least 3.0. Preference will be given to students with financial need, expressed in a written statement highlighting how this scholarship will benefit their experience at SUNY New Paltz.
Ralph Sotomayor cherished his time at SUNY New Paltz, where he graduated in 1991. Ralph began his career at Verizon in 1993. Drawn to innovation and problem-solving, he approached engineering with both discipline and imagination. His passion for learning led him to earn a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering The Ralph Sotomayor Scholarship honors his legacy and celebrates students who embody intellectual curiosity, leadership, teamwork, and a future-focused mindset grounded in empathy and purpose.
